Last night I caught a special on the Science Channel called “Ultimate Ecopolis,” the last of a six-part series about innovative, technology-driven solutions for urban challenges such as producing enough food and water, finding clean energy, reducing reliance on oil for transportation, managing waste and increasing energy efficiency. Dr. Daniel Kammen, University of California professor and Nobel Prize-winning  scientist, analyzes the technologies and rates them in accordance to their ability to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. I won’t spoil it for you, but I think it’s a great special that everyone should watch or record because there are some really amazing inventions and ideas featured on the show that will hopefully be utilized on a worldwide scale sometime in the near future. The Science Channel is airing it again tonight at 7 p.m. PST and tomorrow at 7 a.m. PST. Check out the Science Channel website for more info on the series.
